Welcome to this secret page…
It all started before they knew it started.
15 years ago, Alex and Marc became friends. 10 years ago, they became roommates. They didn’t live in the same house, but they lived on the same property – the place itself a beating heart of their friend group. The house that was formerly known as “the Boof Palace.”
In 2011, Marc snagged an internship at 72andSunny, an advertising agency in Los Angeles. Not long after, Alex brought a litter of puppies she was fostering to the offices of 72andSunny and found one of the pups a lifelong home with Holly in HR. Connections were made, conversations were had, and soon enough, Alex nabbed the open receptionist role at the agency (puppies have the power to open many doors in life). Their time together at 72andSunny formed the bedrock of many mutual friendships that continue to this day.
And so, Alex and Marc lived side by side for many many years- walking the same halls of work, cohabitating their kingdom in Culver City, and having all their friends between them. Their lives ebbed and flowed, always intertwining and coming back to one each other, one way or another.
It makes sense, really, because Alex and Marc are kindred spirits. They love games of all types… Donkey Kong, Catan, Gin, Qwirkle- you name it, they’ll play it. They possess an electric wanderlust, a passion for sci-fi and fantasy worlds, and an admiration of knowledge, culture and food. And perhaps above all, they are staunch debaters who love to always be right… to which their friends and family can attest (and chagrin).
As fate would have it, it only took timing and a pandemic to say… what if… we were more?
One night, Alex and Marc were at dinner- as they often went to do as friends. Pondering one of life’s deep questions over spaghetti, they wondered together if soul mates really do exist?
“I think you could be a soulmate of mine” Alex joked.
“Definitely” Marc mused back.
“Do you ever think we could have dated?” she wondered.
“Maybe— in another universe.” he said.
They parted ways as usual after dinner, only Alex kept thinking of their conversation. The next morning she asked the question that put it all in motion:
“Why not in this universe?”
And so began the whirlwind, the wild centripetal motion that is all too typical of love. Or maybe they just became more aware of what had already been set in motion a decade and a half earlier? Their romance blossomed through idyllic road trips and the breakaway from the mundanity of life in lockdown. Canon Beach. Mt. Hood. Sedona. Bryce Canyon. Tall peaks, open roads, sprawling vistas, vibrant memories. Animals in tow for most of it – Peanut, Red, and Kitten.
Ever felt a cat put its paw on your Achilles while you’re accelerating down the 101? Marc has… Back to the story.
On Alex’s 34th birthday, Marc popped “the question” amongst the windswept privacy of East Beach, in Santa Barbara. Envision this: a pop-up picnic, her favorite bottle of wine, and a photographer looming in the distance. For a woman who never misses a beat, Alex was genuinely surprised.
As for April 22? Well, here we are. The next moment. The next milestone of their story that begins with all of us at Foreverfest ’23.
We so look forward to celebrating with you and having you be part of our next chapter. Thanks for reading :))
